The Relief That Never Comes.
The sigh, the breath, the bliss,
the neck being hanged ready to be released, holding hands ready to be freed,
and even though the heart be attached and never prepared,
the surprise is what teaches us to move on.
Looking back or not, the relief will come, and you will see.
Counting the minutes, watching every step, rehearsing every cadence,
legs whisking impatient, crowded head, chest tightened.
All this looks more like a relief that never comes.
